"En Plein Air" @ SWELL
a painting workshop with Seabastion Toast
Once again, the Currumbin foreshore is set to be transformed into the iconic sculpture walk that is Swell Sculpture festival.
We see art as a collaborative process, so would like to invite you to view our sculptures through a painter’s eye and take part in this outdoor adventure with award winning artist, Seabastion Toast.
Drawing on the “en plein air” tradition of “painting outdoors”, we will be seeking inspiration not just from the landscape, but from the the sculptures themselves, as situated in this extraordinary festival of the senses.
Seabastion Toast will take you step by step through the planning, painting and refining process in this three part workshop that will have you seeing both the festival and your own creativity in a new light.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced artists, as you will be taken through the painting process from go to whoa and take home your very own masterpiece.
You will learn:
- The essentials of composition and design.
- How to take visual notes in the field.
- How to loosen up with free and gestural brushstrokes while still maintaining a likeness.
- How to refine and reform your works back in the studio.
